Early childhood education

Early childhood education is planned and goal-oriented education and care for a child. At the same time, early childhood education supports parenting and enables parents to study or work. Early childhood education is organised for children aged 0 to 6 in kindergartens and family day care as well as in club and play activities.   

On the website of the Finnish Parents’ League, you can find a guide for parents on early childhood education. It is available in many different languages. Among other things, the guide explains what early childhood education is; how you can prepare for your child starting kindergarten; how you can facilitate the start and what kind of cooperation there is between the home and the kindergarten.
