Being a parent in Finland

If you yourself grew up elsewhere, being a parent in Finland can seem difficult. Finnish society, language and culture may be very different from what you are used to. However, the wish of all parents, regardless of their background, is the same: The wish for their child to live a safe and happy life.  

In Finland, people are equal, and the rights of children are also considered important. Parents are encouraged to share responsibility for their children equally. Children are seen as individuals with their own strengths and opinions.
